Lella Lee May Boos

BOOS (GREEN), Lella
May 31, 1962 − April 8, 2017
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lella (Lee) Boos, after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. She passed away at the Calgary Southwood Hospice surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 30 years (Ted); daughters Brittany, Ashley and Keli;mother Lila as well as sisters Twila
(Malcolm) and Nevada (Ronald).
On May 31, 1962, Lella May Green , was born in the Calgary General Hospital to Rex and Lila Green. She was the 3rd daughter (previous Twila and Nevada) in the Green family which lived on a farm close to the community of Standard Alberta. Lella (or Lee to many friends) attended a school in Standard from, grade 1 through 12. She, along with her sisters helped on the farm as best they could. After graduation, Lee made her way to Calgary where she attended Mount Royal Community College where she earned a 2 year diploma in Early Childhood Education. This set her up for a career in caring for children. She worked many years as a manager for a day care home.
During this time she met her future husband, Ted Boos, and they were married April 25, 1987. Lee became a stay at home mom tending to their 3 daughters (Brittany born August 27, 1988; Ashley born March 27, 1991 and finally Keli born November 7, 1996). None are currently married and all live in Calgary.
For the first 15 years, the family lived in Midnapore on a street called Midlawn Close. Many friendships were formed in this neighborhood that still remain today. In 2004, the family moved to their current home in Sundance. Lee worked for the last 10 years for the Calgary Board of Education at Fish Creek Elementary School as a lunchroom supervisor where she also made many friends. The girls enjoyed many activities including the ice sport Ringette. Much of their time was spent in arenas and again, many friendships were made that remain today.
Lee was an avid reader and enjoyed many activities such as; golf, skiing, curling and hiking. The family spent much of their time camping and Lee liked nothing better than going for long walks to enjoy nature. The sight of a deer always warmed her heart and she had a special place for owls. Many hours were spent in Fish Creek searching for the owls during spring time.
Lee was pre-deceased by her father Rex in 2000 and her mother Lila moved to Sundance in the early 2000’s, very close to where Lee currently lives. Nevada (Beaudoin) lives in Sherwood Park Alberta with her husband Ron and 4 kids while Twila (McKinnon) lives with her husband Malcolm in Standard while their 3 children are all in Calgary. Ted has one older sister (Laurie, not married) that lives in Edmonton.
Thank you for the 4 months of care to all staff at the Southwood Hospice.
A service will be held at the Deer Park United Church (77 Deerpoint Road SE Calgary) on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 am.
