Obituary
Soulmate and husband of Elizabeth Barter (nee Lux) and the loving father of Ruth and Clare. Peter died peacefully in Halifax, Nova Scotia in the company of his wife and his daughter Clare. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years and his daughters Ruth Barter and Clare (Cory) George; brothers, Pat (Louise), William (the late Wilma), Donald (Dorayn); sisters, Rosemary, Dorothy (Clarence) McInnis, Corine (Reginald) Ware, Carol (Stephan) Gray; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
Peter was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Frank and Richard and sister, Florence
He and his wife met while volunteering with Bishop O’ Grady’s Frontier Apostolate in Smithers, B.C. Peter was for many years a film editor and more recently a Bylaw Enforcement Office with the City of Edmonton. A giving person who was an active blood donor for 50 years. He and his wife enjoyed walking and loved to travel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3rd, 2017 at St. Joseph’s College Chapel, 11325 – 89th Ave, Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Peter’s name to The International Committee of the Red Cross, Famine Relief via their website: www.icrc.org
The family wishes to send a special thanks to Dr. Nancy Zhu and the wonderful nurses at MOU, U of A Hospital for the 2+ years of smiles and laughter, and to the Doctors and staff of ward 8A VG Hospital, Halifax, who welcomed and treated Peter with such tender, loving care.
