Jean Taylor – 2017

TAYLOR, Olwyn “Jean” (nee Howell)- June 1, 1924 – March 19, 2017. Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on March 19, 2017 Jean Taylor at the age of 92. Predeceased by her parents William and Frances (nee Saunders) Howell, brothers Mac (Josephine), Roy (Blanche), Fred (Dorothy), sisters Alma (Mark Badcock) and Flora McCarthy, sisters-in-law Dorothy Heale and Verna Bursey. Leaving to mourn her devoted Husband Clarence (Buck), who was by her side to the end and son William (Bill), sisters Emma Wells, Frances Earle (George dec), and brother Duncan Howell (Eunice, dec), Brother-in-Law Harold Taylor (Melba) and sister-in-law Edythe Moffatt (Roy), numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Jean was very active with the Gower Street UCW and was an avid craft person. No craft was too big or too small for Jean to tackle. She worked at the Workers Compensation Board until retirement. She loved to bowl and dedicated many years to the Girl Guides of Canada. Special thanks to the first floor nurses and staff at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave on Wednesday, March 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 with Funeral service from Barrett’s Chapel on Thursday, March 23 at 2:00 pm. Interment to be at a later date. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to Gower St. United Church, 99 Queens Road, St. John’s, NL A1C 6M6.
