FITZSIMMONS Murray Charles
1932-2017
Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Murray passed away at his home in Niagara-on-the-Lake just two weeks after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Survived by his daughter Ananda Lynn, (Mikala), son Scott, (Michelle), grandchildren Alida, Kahlil, (Bertine), Elijah and Ryan, great-grandchildren Emmanuel and Kiara. Dear uncle of Greg, Kim, Lee and Jay.
Also survived by his late wife’s children Richard Diosi and Kelli Weidenborner and considered grandpa to their children Alex and Sarah Diosi and Molly and Chloe Weidenborner. Survived by his life partner and soulmate Rosalie Tansey and loved by her children Susanne and Geoffrey McGregor. Predeceased by his Mother and Father, Hilda Brocklehurst and James Daniel Fitzsimmons, brother Jim Fitzsimmons, his wife and mother of his children Jan Paquin and his late wife Julia Diosi. He was born in Calgary Alberta and moved with his family to Montreal where his father had employment. Murray was a commerce graduate from McGill University and was immediately recruited by CIL/ICI where he forged a long corporate career in finance, retiring as Treasurer. He was a man for all seasons; loved to travel, play tennis, worked out religiously and balanced his chequebook to the penny. Murray enjoyed all the good things in his 84 years: Women, Martinis, Wine, Friends, Food and good political discussions that didn’t leave any doubts in anyone’s mind what his inclinations were. His sense of humour never left him even in his declining days when he said “I wish I could sit comfortably, drink some ice water without a straw and pee liberally. It’s the only thing I ever want to do liberally…”. The family thanks the Niagara-on-the-Lake Family team, CCAC and all the wonderful friends who supported us in keeping Murray in his own home until the end. He loved and was loved.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the Morgan Funeral Home, 415 Regent Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake.
