James Barrie Underwood 17 avril 1946 – 10 mars 2017

With heavy hearts, the family of Barrie Underwood announces his passing on March 10, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Barrie was born Moncton, New Brunswick on April 17, 1946 to Terence (Ted) and Victoria (Vicky) Underwood.
Barrie will be dearly missed by his loving wife Marilyn (nee Eldridge) Underwood. In addition to his wife, Barrie is survived by his two sisters Barbara Vigars (late Ron) of Edmons, Washington and Valerie Murphy (Terry) of Mississauga, Ontario, sisters-in-law Judy Miller (late Paul) of London, Ontario, Elaine Eldridge (late Allan) of Saint John, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
After growing up in Moncton, Barrie went on to graduate from St. Francis Xavier University and Michigan State University. He began his working career with NB Tel in Saint John in the late 60’s and later, after living on each coast of Canada, he returned to New Brunswick and retired from NB Power (Point Lepreau and Colson Cove) in 2011. Barrie was a fan of NFL football, baseball and harness racing. He was also keenly interested in classic and vintage automobiles.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave 634-1701. Marilyn extends an invitation to family and friends to gather in memory of Barrie at Castle “Fallsview” Reception Center, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 1:00pm- 3:00pm. A private interment took place in Greenwood Cemetery. Donations in Barrie’s memory can be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
