Passed away at the Juravinski Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, Feb. 16th, 2017 in his 65th year. Beloved husband of Donna (nee Vansickle) for over 40 years. Loving father of Trevor (Terri-Lynn), and the late Tracy. Devoted “Papa” to Wesley and Michael. Barry is survived by his brothers Rod (Rita), Bernie (Emma), Derryk (Darlene), and David, and his sisters Bonnie (the late Albert), and Cheryl (Dave), and his brother-in-law Roy. Predeceased by his parents James Lloyd and Rose Eileen Hunter (nee Bolton), his sister Linda, and his brother Doug. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, colleagues, friends and his dog Duchess. Barry worked at JP Bowman’s for over 45 years, he was a Cub Scout Leader for over 15 years and was presented with the Award for Fortitude (from the Gov. General of Ontario), for setting a humbling and courageous example of strength, poise, courage and integrity. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave on Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017 from 10 – 11 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre – Stem Cell Research, 699 Concession St Hamilton, ON L8V 5C2, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Barry in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
