Obituary for Epaminodas (Nonda) PETROPOULOS
Born in the village of Kardiakfti, Ilias, Greece, Nonda’s passionate heart burned for 88 dynamic years. The oldest son of six siblings, Nonda’s artful stories of his life’s adventures entertained anyone eager for a laugh. His devotion to Zoe, his wife of over 60 years made your heart melt and his dying wish was, “take care of your mom”. A fearless worker, Nonda’s renowned yet humble career in Calgary’s kitchens spanned 40 years as a cook, chef and mentor. After retirement, he rediscovered his homeland with an annual trip to the sun soaked beaches of his youth. Nonda’s and Zoe’s six grandchildren; Zoe, Nonda, George, Nonda, Kosta and Lukas, filled him with pride and he loved them dearly. His last words were, “It wasn’t long enough”. We love you dad, George (Maria), and Larry (Margaret). Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent SW) on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 6:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent SW) on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11:00 am. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
