After struggling with health issues over many years, Mona Baker died Saturday January 21, at the age of 60. Mona and her twin brother were born in Hamiota, July 9th, 1956. She moved to Winnipeg with her family at the age of 5, attending Earl Grey and then Kelvin High School.
After high school Mona went on to work for Revenue Canada, Taxation Branch, Parks Canada and Transport Canada in admin roles. Mona was a romantic, enjoyed being creative and found outlets in both woodworking and crafts. Mona focused on her own individuality and had a deep longing for connections with others.
She is survived by her sister Brenda, her brother Lloyd, sister-in-law Jeannie, brother Ward, her cat Spice, as well as treasured nieces and nephews, in particular, Les and Evan. Special friends, Becky, Cindy, Maria and Deb. She was predeceased by her parents George and Gladys Baker and her twin brother Kent whom she loved dearly.
Burial will take place at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Friday February 3, 2017 at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow at 2:00 pm at Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Ave, in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper St S, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1W7.
