1938-2017
Doug MacFadyen of Riverview passed away at The Moncton
Hospital on Sunday, January 22, 2017. Born in Sydney, NS, to the late
Janet and Earl MacFadyen. He retired from the CNR with 36 years of
service, as a machinist and a Safety Supervisor.
Doug is survived by his four children; Belinda (Mike Ganley)
of Edmonton, AB, Garrett of Grand Prairie, AB, Glenn (Tammy) of
Riverview and Curtis (Bonnie) of Moncton. A sister; Carol of
Lower Sackville, NS, former wife, Patsy, his fiancé and
soulmate, Donna Lund, seven grandchildren; Thomas, Megan, Sarah,
Brooke, Jayden, Cole and Thea.
A proud resident of Riverview for over forty years, he
volunteered with both Minor Hockey and Minor Baseball. He
was a past director of Omista Credit Union. He enjoyed
spending quality time with his children and grandchildren and special
times with Donna and her family.
After retirement, Doug enjoyed golfing with his friends at
Lakeside Golf Club, playing tennis at the Moncton Tennis Club, skating
with the Bicentennial Skating Club, playing pool at the Air Force
Vets, skiing at Poley Mountain, exercising at Global Gym and sunny
days at Parlee Beach with his pals in section A. “What
A Great Life.”
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd.,
Riverview (869-2007). A private celebration of Doug’s life
will be held by the family at a later date. Donations in
Doug’s memory can be made to the Cancer Society, Heart and
Stroke Foundation or a memorial of the donor’s Choice.
