John” Leo” Francis McManus
1931-2017
John Leo Francis McManus, 85, of Woodstock NB passed away on
Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Upper River Valley Hospital Waterville
NB. Leo was born in Devon NB on December 8, 1931 son of the late John
and Kathleen (Owens) McManus.
Leo really enjoyed his military career and continued to be
involved with the Legion and Lions Club and always stayed in touch
with his military friends. One of favorite functions was the annual
reunion of the 2nd Canadian Guards.
He loved to fish, camp and travel the world but most of all he loved
his family and spending time with them.
Leo is survived by his wife, Sheila (Orr) McManus, children;
Ralph McManus (Dianne), Nackawic NB, Doreen Mainville (Nour), Susan
McManus, Lorraine Monette (Gord), all of Ottawa ON, step children;
Robert MacFarlane Jr. (Lori), Woodstock NB, Clinton MacFarlane
(Deanna), Debec, NB, Sonya Thomas (Kevin), Debec, NB, sister in law,
Erma Lake; Sheila’s siblings, Clifford Orr (Susan), Margaret
Denning (John), Barbara Naftell (Donnie), Grace Veysey (Larry),
Dorothy Lewis (Mike), Wendy Orr (Jamie), Ashley Orr (Jocelynn),
David Orr, Richard Orr, several grandchildren, great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents Leo was predeceased by his first wife of
55 years, Vera (Barrow) McManus, sisters, Mamie king, Alethea
Underhill, sisters, in law Nina, Lila, Eva, Phoebe, Marie, brothers in
law, Marshall, Russell, Paul, Ralph and Sheila’s
brother’s Robert (Marlene) and James Orr.
By request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A
graveside service and interment for Leo will be held in the Kirk
Cemetery at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the
River Valley Cancer Support Group or to memorial of the
donor’s choice.
