John Stewart

STEWART, John Angus
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather on January 6, 2017 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario. John was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on March 1, 1930 to Rhoda Gladys and John Angus Stewart Sr. He grew up in Grande Anse, Cape Breton and Halifax. Soon after graduating from Dalhousie University in 1950 with a B.Sc., John came to Ontario. In 1966, he struck out on his own and opened Angus Employment Agency of Hamilton/Burlington. This suited him well as John was a “people person” and most of all he enjoyed the opportunity this gave him to meet so many different people. Sadly, this pleasure was taken from him in his later years by Alzheimer Disease.
John was a loving husband to his wife Anu for almost 50 years and a caring father to sons, Andrew (Karen) and Evan (Cheryl). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Katelyn, Ian, Kevin, Taylor and James, as well as many family, friends and kind neighbours. Private Cremation has taken place. There are many people we would like to thank for their help during John’s final years struggling with Alzheimer’s: Dr. Timothy Salter and staff, the hard-working PSW’s of Paramed as well as Dr. F. P. Fornasier and the staff of 2North of the Joseph Brant Hospital. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. where a Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
