Mary Aikens
Born in the County of Durham, England March 28, 1922.
Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday January 4, 2017 in her 95th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald Aikens (Don), her parents Thomas Clark and Mary Ann Proud Clark (née Gardiner), and her siblings Joseph (Joe), William (Bill) and Hilda. Dear mother of Vern (Jan) of St. Albert, AB; Don (Sheila) of Belledune, NB and Al (Janis Day) of Ottawa. Loving “Nana” to Amanda (Blair) Corey, Dan (Stacey) Andersson, Angela (Peter) Desrosiers and Pamela (Jason) Temple. Great grandmother “G-Nana” to Sarah, Cole, Reid, Alex and Harper. Sister-in-law to Mildred Aikens-Hebb and Aunt Mary to many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to acknowledge the caring support of Dr. Gagnon, the wonderful staff at Portobello Manor for their exceptional care, as well as Dr. Chadha and the team at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus. Memorial Service will be held at St. Helen’s Anglican Church, 1234 Prestone Drive, Orleans on Thursday January 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or St. Helen’s Anglican Church would be appreciated.
