It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother Antonia. She was born on the island of Karpathos, Greece on January 17, 1926 and was married to John Hatzifotis on October 29, 1943. She immigrated to Canada in 1954. She lived in Toronto for 13 years until they moved to Georgetown in 1967 where she lived until her death on Wednesday December 14th, 2016.
Antonia worked alongside her husband and partner in life in many family run businesses. She was an exemplary worker and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and tending to her family. Antonia is lovingly reunited with her late husband, John who passed in 2009.
She leaves behind son Minas (Gabriele), of Georgetown, daughter Irene ( John) of Greece); Granddaughter Antonia (Peter), and Great Grandchildren (Alec, and Lewis) of Georgetown; Grandson Chris (Dora) and Great Grandchildren (Evthokia and Irini) of Greece; and Granddaughter Niki and Great Grandchildren (Nick and John) of Greece.
Friends will be received at J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, north of Maple Avenue, Georgetown, on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Greek Orthodox Church of Prophet Elias, 1785 Matheson Blvd., Mississauga. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown. Reception to follow Interment at the Georgeview Restaurant in Georgetown.
