Following this they embarked on a journey across Canada, stopping to visit children and step-grandchildren along the way before settling in Falmouth, NS as operators of the Avonside Motel. Upon her retirement in Feb. 2005, Phyllis settled in her new home where she enjoyed many hours watching her favourite wrestling matches, reading her many books and knitting beautiful sweaters for her step-great-grandchildren. She really enjoyed the times spent in visits from family and friends. Phyllis also shared many special moments with her very dear friends, Kathy and Rick MacLeod. Because of their kindness and their help, Phyllis was able to remain in her home, which was always her wish.
