William George Bill Dykes – 1943 – 2016

Obituary of William Dykes
With heavy hearts, the family of Bill Dykes announces his sudden passing on Saturday, December 24, 2016.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 48 years Charlotte and children John (Kelly), Jennifer (Mike), Joe (Tracy) and three beautiful grandchildren Olivia, Sophia, and Jack. Also mourning his loss are his brother and best friend Gus (Sue) and sister Sandi (Lanny) and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Bill’s love for his family was contagious. As a devoted father, his pride for his children was only overshadowed by his love for his grandchildren. Papa always had a hug and a popsicle waiting. An avid sports fan, Bill enjoyed sharing baseball stats, watching Sunday football, or speculating when the Leafs would finally make the Stanley Cup playoffs.
His favorite past-times were walking hand-in-hand on the beaches of Ana Maria Island with Charlotte, and building sandcastles on the shores of Long Point with Olivia, Sophia and Jack. Bill is going to be missed greatly by all of us.
Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service to celebrate Bill’s life at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, December 27 at 2:00pm with a reception to follow.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
