Ruby Elaine LaFosse
1932-2016
LaFosse (Snow), Ruby Elaine – Age 84 of Port Hawkesbury.
Passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, December 25, 2016. Born on
July 17, 1932 in Wings Point, Gander Bay, Newfoundland; she was a
daughter of the late James Walter and Ida Anne (Fancy)
Snow.
Ruby was married at the age of 20 to the love of her life
George Robert LaFosse to whom she remained married for nearly 63
years, until he passed away in February 2015. She was a loving and
devoted mother to 7 children, 6 of which were born in NL the final one
in NS. She moved from NL to NS in 1974 to operate a convenience store
in West Bay, where she resided until 1984. A few moves later she
permanently settled in Port Hawkesbury.
She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne (Donald) MacKay, St.
George’s Channel; Elaine (Gerard) Jellow, Antigonish;
Christine (Leo) MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury; sons, Norman (Norma),
Gander, NL; Donald, St. George’s Channel; Shawn, Port
Hawkesbury; brother, Josiah (Eva) Snow, Campbellton, NL;
grandchildren, Shane, Christopher, Alesia, Amanda, Robert, Jennie,
Cindy, Sherri, Natasha; great-grandchildren, Amber, Evan, Alex,
Madison, Hannah, River and Kayden. She was predeceased by husband,
George Robert; infant son, George James; brothers, Eldred, Norman,
Ward, Pleaman; sisters, Violet, Janet, Sophie and
Joyce.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, December
28 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service
will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, December 29 from Holy Trinity Anglican
Church, Port Hawkesbury with Deacon Susan Slater officiating. Burial
in Holy Trinity Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be
made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, or a charity of one’s
