Donald Ray French
1932-2016
At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on December 21,
2016, Mr. Donald Ray French, beloved husband of Frances (Cooke) French
of Back Bay, NB. Born in Bristol, CT on July 21, 1932, he was a son of
the late Ray and Cecila (Robertson) French.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his
wife, Frances, he is survived by his sons: Pastor David (Jan) French
of Lafayette, IN, Daniel French of Milldale, CT and John French of
Rocky Mount, VA; his daughter: Susan (David) Kimmel of Norman, OK;
seven grandchildren: Jessamy, Rebecca, Sara, Chelsey, Justen, Jeffrey,
Paige and Hannah; three great grandchildren; two brothers: Richard
(Linda) French and Larry (Marlou) French; his sister: Elaine Lynch; as
well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he
was predeceased by two grandchildren: Nathaniel Nyran and Tyler
French.
As a young man Donald singed up with the United States Navy from 1950
– 1954 serving in Korea for two years on an ammunitions boat. Donald
was also an ordained minister, serving the Lord and his community for
over 20 years as Pastor of Hartford Full Gospel Church in Hartford CT
until his retirement. After moving to Back Bay, Donald became a member
of the Sea View Full Gospel Church and was very active in the Men’s
Fellowship. He will be sadly missed by his family and by members in
his church family and community.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the Sea View Full Gospel
Church, Back Bay, NB, with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
The service will be held at the church on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with Rev.
Gordon Cooke officiating. Interment will take place in the St. George
Rural Cemetery in the spring. In Donald’s memory, donations to Bobby’s
Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by
the family.
