Mercer, Isabel (Née Connors)
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother (“Grammie”), aunt
and friend, Isabel Mercer (née Connors) passed away
peacefully in her home on December 10, 2016.
Born in Blissfield, NB in 1936, she was the daughter of
Milton and Minnetta (Weaver) Connors.
Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with grandchildren.
She was active until the day of her passing and was often seen about
town either for a leisurely walk across the train bridge or taking in
ALL that the city had to offer. She was a founding member of the
Capital Winter Club Business Girls rink and in her earlier years was
an avid bowler and skier. Up until last winter she was a fixture at
the local rinks with her “racers” and was often
complimented on her smooth style. She enjoyed all the Seasons and was
a great lover of the beaches and woods of the Maritimes; with PEI
beaches being her favorite.
She was an active member in the community serving for many
years as a member of the CWL and with the VON.
Isabel is survived by her sister Grace Sproule and brother
George Connors; children Joella Mercer, Andrew Mercer (Tanya), Alynn
Morrison (Gary), and Craig Mercer (Dana); grandchildren Maggie,
Madison, Elisabeth, Bradley, Luke, and Callie; and many nieces and
nephews.
Isabel is predeceased by her loving parents, sisters (Mona
Connors and Mary Robie), husband Joel Mercer, and infant son Darcy
Mercer.
Visitation will be held at the McAdam funeral home on
Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 2-4 pm, and 6-8 pm. Her funeral will
be held at St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church on Wednesday December14, 2016
at 12:05 pm with Fr. Bill Brennan officiating. Reception to
follow at the Monsignor Boyd Centre. For those who wish, memorial
donations in Isabel’s memory can be made to St. Dunstan’s Catholic
Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of one’s choice.
