Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Zander Muxlow on March 29th, 2023 at the young age of 19 years.
He was predeceased by his father Ryan Muxlow; and his uncle Devon Hala.
Zander is survived by his mother Stacy Muxlow; his brothers: Kegan (Danielle), Mason and Lawson; grandparents Bob and Kelly-Ann Schad; auntie Jo-Anne Hala and children Kade and Macie; his uncle Robbie Schad and daughter Kalani; grandparents Dale and Karen Muxlow; auntie Melanie Tessier and daughter Sydney; his girlfriend Natara Smith; great-grandmothers, Vickie Storle and Katherine McLeod; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Zander was born and raised in Weyburn and later in his teen years he moved to Saskatoon.
Zander was a beautiful child. When he was born he had bright sparkling eyes and a big beautiful head. He was lovingly given the nickname Pumpkin Head. As a young boy this was something he was quite proud of because his head was big like his Grandpa Bob’s. His Grandpa had told him it was because they both had such big brains to hold.
When he started school, he argued with his teacher that his name was Zander Pumpkin Head, not Muxlow. As he got older his body caught up with his head and he grew into a very handsome man, very much resembling his dad.
In his younger years Zander was a busy boy and he loved to explore the outdoors. He was very fortunate that both sets of his grandparents lived on farms. At the Muxlow’s farm he and his brothers would spend their days exploring around the yard, driving grandpa Dale’s trucks and working in his shop with him. Zander also enjoyed the time he spent going across the line on their shopping trips to Plentywood.
At the Schad farm he would go tobogganing with his brothers and cousins in the winter and in summer they would ride their dirt bikes on the track that their Uncle Robbie had built for them. Zander was always attracted to the mud no matter how much his Grandma Kelly Ann would get after him. He told his Grandma It was OK because he was wearing his boots until even the boots then got stuck. But that was typical of him. Zander made many memories with his cousins at the Schad farm playing in the slough and catching frogs.
Zander spent a lot of time at his Auntie Jo’s. His cousins were his best friends. Zander, his brothers and Kade spent endless hours playing legos, gaming, skateboarding and riding their BMX’s around town. If he wasn’t with the boys, he could be found with his cousin Macie making crafts or playing dress up with her. Summertime was always fun he would often join them for Beach days at Nickel Lake. They went to Red Deer where Zander spent the day trick scootering at the big skate park and they also made a trip to Banff together where they experienced the mountains and whitewater rafting memories.
When he and his brothers had the chance they would go to Regina to stay with their Aunt Melanie. She loved to spoil them by taking them to Chucky Cheese and the Club House. Of course the trip wouldn’t be complete with out a candy haul.
Zander attended Assiniboia Park elementary school, St. Mike’s Jr high and Weyburn Comprehensive high school. In the classroom he like to be the centre of attention and make them laugh and challenged the teachers. Outside of the classroom Zander had many friends.
He had a likeable endearing personality, he was fun loving and easygoing. He liked to keep busy. He joined a dance club and took hip-hop. He played soccer and baseball. When he got older he was a goalie in hockey and played football.
Zander was a charming and loving young man that would always greet you with a warm smile and he wasn’t shy about his feelings. He would call his mom several times a day to tell her how much he loved her.
Teenage years were tumultuous for Zander. In 2018 the unthinkable happened and Zander unexpectedly lost his dad Ryan in an accident. His struggles got even harder. The family made the decision to move to Saskatoon for a fresh start. Saskatoon brought many challenges. New people, some good and some not so good.
Zander was a beautiful young man with a big heart that fell into the grips of drugs. It can happen to anyone. He battled to overcome his addictions and demons. We don’t want his addiction to define him, because he was so much more. Those who were fortunate enough to have known him, loved him.
The day he died a part of us died along with him, he will be dearly missed.
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held.
