Jobin, Yvon (1960-2023)
The family announces with great sorrow his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the age of 63 years. Beloved husband of Dina Makuz-Jobin, loving father of Cory Jobin (Veronique), Shelley-Ann Jobin and Krista McCooeye (Dwayne) all of Timmins. Dear grandfather of Dannick Morrison, Leelan Morrison, Tory Moyle, Lennox Rouzes and great grandfather of Camilla Morrison. He will be sadly missed by his siblings; Jo-Anne Gagnon (Donald), Rachel Boutin (Jean-Marc “Boots”), Clement Jobin and Michel Jobin (Gail), all of Timmins, his sister-in-law Caterina Persiani (Norm) and his brother-in-law Alex Makuz (Yolanta). Also left to mourn are his many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy (2012) and Joseph Jobin (2008), his sister Noella Jobin (2011), Dale Jobin (2023), his parents-in-law Sarafina (2009) and Stefano Makuz (2014), nephews Mikey Jobin, Joey Gagnon, niece Tammy Gagon, great nephew Cole Gagon and great niece Brandi Gagnon. The family would like to thank Dr. Herst, the nurses in the Oncology department at the Timmins and District Hospital and the Health Sciences North Hospital (Sudbury), and the nurses in the hospice at Timmins and District Hospital. A special thank you to the family for all their help during this difficult time. Yvon was an outgoing person who would stop and talk to everyone. His booming laugh would light up the room. Yvon loved Elvis and country music and was passionate about cooking and his family. He had many careers throughout his life but his passion was cooking including stints as the chef at his own restaurants, the Senator, and the Hollinger Golf Club and the Kamiskotia Ski Hill, and consulting in the local hospitality industry. Yvon also contributed to the Timmins community with his volunteer work with the Anti-Hunger Coalition, and serving as a long term member and eventually becoming president of the Lions Club. He will be sorely missed but will live on in all of our hearts. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from the St-Anthony’s Cathedral . Remembrance donations to Diabetes Canada or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
