Yvon Léger, 80, of Shediac, passed away on
Monday March 20, 2023, at the Villa Providence. Born in Barachois, he
was the son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Edith
Léger.
Prior to his retirement, Yvon worked for NBTel for
over 30 years. He was a proud veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy
having served on HMCS Haida during the Cuban Missile
Crisis.
He is survived by his two sons: Daniel of Moncton and
Stéphane (Nicole) of Dieppe; three grandchildren: Caroline,
Catherine, and Maxime; two sisters: Alfreda (late Aimé),
and Yvette; one brother, Hervé (Claudette); one brother
in-law, Bernard Gaudet; mother of his children, Melina Richard; as
well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his
common-law wife, Jacqueline Meier; two sisters: Lina Gaudet and
Dorilla Léger; one brother,
Elphège.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette
Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street, Shediac (506-532-3297)
where the funeral service will be celebrated on Friday March 24 at 11
am. Visiting hours are Thursday from 7 to 9 pm and Friday from 10 am
until time of funeral (10:45 am). In memory of Yvon, a contribution to
the Alzheimer Society would be
appreciated.
