DREES, Willy (August 21, 1940 – April 30, 2023)
Passed away, peacefully, on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital with his family by his side, Willy Drees of Delhi at the age of 82 years. Born in Beveren-Waas, E.F., Belgium, son of the late Frans Drees and the late former Elvira (Van Cranenbroek) Drees. Willy was a dedicated farmer who loved the outdoors. He earned his second-degree belt in karate. Willy was an exceptional accordionist who was well-renowned as a local wedding and New Years/special occasion band member called “Willy Drees Combo.” He also enjoyed gymnastics in his younger years.
Willy is survived by his wife of 45 years Jane Frances Drees. Loved father and father-in-law of: Sonya (and her husband John Samuel), Delhi. Proud and loving grandfather of: Bradley Brooks, Tyler Brooks, Jennifer Brooks and Yasmine Samuel and proud and loving great-grandfather of: Mason Brooks. Survived by a sister Astrid Koback of Saskatchewan and late William Koback (2004) and a brother Gilbert Drees (Arlene), London and a sister Rita (Mark Thompson) of London and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Lillian Van Dam (2020) and her husband Lucien (1999). Also predeceased by a brother Lucien Drees (1973) and late Maria Jose (2018) and another brother Ferdi Drees (2017).
A private family visitation and a private Liturgical Service will be celebrated on Saturday, May 6th, by Rev. Father Seejo John, of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. Interment will follow in the Drees family plot in St. Ladislaus R.C. Cemetery, Courtland.
