Mr. William (Bill) Gordon Wickman, late of Prince Albert SK, passed away on Wed. April 12th, 2023, after a lengthy battle with health issues.
Bill was born in Port Arthur, ON on July 30th, 1958, to Mary and Uno Wickman, Bill was the youngest of five siblings. Bill attended school in Port Arthur and Kenora ON where he graduated from Beaver Brea High School in 1976.
Bill lived in rural Kenora, ON for 10 years with his wife at the time Judy, and children Leslee Wickman, and Grant Wickman. Bill spent eight years working for the paper mill Boise Cascade. In 1987, Bill decided to make a change and accepted a position at the Prince Albert Pulp and Paper Mill, as a machine tender, Bill worked at the mill for 16 years.
In the summer of 2000, Bill met his life partner Cheryle Snyder, who brought him long-term friendship and happiness. Cheryle gave Bill an extended family which he ultimately enjoyed, Cherise Dacquay & her husband Roger & their two young children Celine, & Etienne. Steven Chudobiak gave him his grandchildren Lyndon Bird, Lochlyn Bird, Teren Es, & Bryson Es.
In his spare time before illness made it impossible, Bill enjoyed the great outdoors, camping with Cheryle, Lyndon, Lochlyn, & Jamie. Bill also loved to travel, golfing, fishing, watching NASCAR on Sundays, and playing cards with his friends Nick and Todd. Bill enjoyed the company of his four-legged family members the most Ella and Jasmine who brought him the most joy along with his cats Lincoln, Pepe le Pew, Mary, and Rona.
After the closing of the paper mill, Bill worked for Grey Cab for two years, until he was hired at RONA in Prince Albert where he was employed until his health issues took him away from work. Bill loved his job at RONA and all the people he interacted with daily.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his fur babies Ella, Jasmine, Rona, Mary, Pepe Le Pew, and Lincoln, his common-law partner Cheryle Snyder (Nee Laloyoux); his stepdaughter Cherise Dacquay (Roger); his granddaughter Celine; his grandson Etienne; his stepson Steven Chudobiak; his grandchildren Lyndon Bird, Lochlyn Bird, Teren Es, and Bryson Es, his great-grandchildren Azaria, Reid, Lucien Bird; his daughter Leslee Wickman (Tad Arcand); his granddaughter Jessica Prentice (Logan), his grandson Sheldon Bates; his son Grant Wickman (Amanda Penner); his brothers James (Erikka) Wickman, Bob (Michelle) Wickman, & Glenn Wickman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill is predeceased by his father Uno Wickman; his mother Mary Wickman; his sister Nancy Bynski; his brother-in-law Bruce Bynski; and his cherished fur babies Biggie and Jamie.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Victoria Union Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Bill’s stay.
