On Monday, April 24, 2023, William Ernest Robinson, MD, FRCP(C), Psychiatry, of Collingwood, Ontario passed away at the age of 92 years. William, better known as Moe or Bill to his friends and colleagues, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at The Hospice Georgian Triangle – Campbell House in Collingwood, Ontario.
Moe was the husband of Catherine Jane Robinson (nee: Oaks) for 51 years until Cathy’s death in August 2008. Moe is survived by his son, Christopher John Robinson (wife, Lisa Ann Crowley), daughter Zoe Catherine Robinson (grandchildren, William David Spencer Robinson and Lauren Zara Elizabeth Robinson). He was the son of Curtis and Dorothy Robinson (nee: Boyce), brother to Harold Robinson and Velvia Killoran (nee: Robinson).
Born in London, Ontario, Moe lived in London, Hamilton, Brantford and Niagara Falls during his youth. He graduated from Queen’s University Faculty of Medicine in 1960, received his accreditation as a practising Psychiatrist in 1966 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and received his psychoanalytic training from the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society in Montreal. Moe was a practising Psychoanalyst in Toronto, Ontario for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, where he served as Director of the Toronto Institute of Psychoanalysis between 1991 and 1993 and was a respected Training Analyst among his peers. He also loved teaching with the Psychiatry program at the University of Toronto. In 2014, Moe retired from his psychoanalytic practice but continued to maintain his membership in the TPSI.
Moe will also be dearly missed by his colleagues from the Toronto and Canadian psychoanalytic communities and his many friends.
Following the death of his wife, Cathy, in 2008, Moe lived in Collingwood, Ontario, where he resided for the last 14 years.
A funeral service will be held in Collingwood, Ontario, on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 11:30 am at the Fawcett Funeral Home, 82 Pine Street, Collingwood, Ontario. A reception will follow at the restaurant Prime Seven Nine located at 79 Hurontario Street, Collingwood, Ontario, between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm.
