White, William (Bill) Valentine
September 12, 1928 – July 2, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of our beloved father, William Valentine (Bill) White on July 2nd, 2023. Bill was born to Percy and Violet White (nee Cochrane) in North Bay on September 12, 1928 and was one of 9 children. He was in his 95th year.
Bill was a beloved husband for 64 wonderful years to Barbara (nee Davies) and he missed her dearly since her passing in 2016. Bill was the loving father of Nancy Lamarche (the late Conrad), Brenda Morris (Mark), Laura White and Sherri White. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Lindsay (P.J.), Bill (Amy) and Lianne Lamarche, Julia and Sam Morris, David, Rachel and Carla White, and great grandchildren Sage, Emma, Kaleb and Greyson. Bill is predeceased by his parents, brothers Jack, Murray, Tom, Cliff and Reg; sisters Beth Howe and Joyce Greenwood, and is survived by his sister Dee (Bob) McCarthy.
Bill was a respected wholesale purchasing agent at Cochrane-Dunlop Hardware for over 33 years. Following this, he was a workshop supervisor at Community Living prior to retiring in 1991. A doting husband, proud father, devoted ‘Grampie’, favourite Uncle and dear friend, Bill was a family-first guy and loved nothing more than spending time on his back deck surrounded by family and friends, Red Cap in hand, with Mom at his side. He was a devoted hockey player, playing weekly right up until he was 71. After moving to Toronto with his parents during the war, Dad became a Toronto Maple Leaf fan. His hockey wall at the house was a great source of pride and always brought out some great stories – he truly loved the game with all his heart. In the off season he was an avid camper and swimmer, and an enviable gardener, providing veggies to his family that often lasted a full winter. His love of animals and family pets meant he was also a loving grandfather to furry family members. Dad was a relaxed traveler making some of his best memories traveling near and far, with Mom as his constant companion.
Friends may call at Hillside Funeral Services, on Monday July 10th from 10:30 to 12:30. Funeral in the Hillside chapel will follow at 1pm with reception afterward. A private family interment will follow the reception.
The family extends deep gratitude to all those on Pier One at Waters Edge who brightened his days with laughter, music and love since 2021. Heartfelt thanks to Drs.
