LICHTY, Willard
Passed away peacefully, after a brief illness on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Stratford General Hospital. Willard was born 72 years ago in Kitchener, Ontario, a son of the late Edwin and Elvina (Bowman) Lichty.
Beloved and loving husband of Joyce (Ertel) Lichty, whom he has cherished 48 years of marriage with. Devoted father of Todd Lichty and wife Janet, and Sean and wife Jenne. Proud and loving grandfather of Emma, Justin, Wyatt and Cheyanne. Willard will be missed by his sisters Mary Ann Brubacher, Erma and husband Jim Kufske and Margaret and husband Don Berg, by brother John and wife Karen and by his sisters-in-law Ruth Arsenault and Regina Ertel. Willard will remain in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, friends and co workers.
Predeceased and reunited by his nephew Roger, father and mother, and brothers-in-law Wilbert, Hank, Doug and Ray.
Willard was a proud long haul truck driver for more then 30 years, driving for JM Schneiders and Erb Transport. He enjoyed the scenery and travel on his journeys. He and Joyce loved vacationing together, though he didn’t have a particularly favourite spot, as long as he was with Joyce, it was his favourite. Willard spent a lot of his time volunteering at the New Hamburg Thrift Store and enjoyed coaching his son’s hockey and baseball teams. Above all else Willard was a PROUD grandfather who loved his grandchildren.
At Willard’s request, cremation has taken place. All are welcome to a Celebration of Life service on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, at 6:00 p.m. Please dress informal at the families request. A time of gathering will follow.
The family would kindly decline flowers, but ask for memorial donations to be given to the Canadian Cancer Society, which can be done through the funeral home.
