Wilfred “Biff” Peter Schefter of Mildmay passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Phyllis and father to Rozalynn Schlosser, Karen (Joe) Koller, and Paul (Rita) Schefter. He was the proud grandpa of Curtis (Kendal), Kyle (Jessica), Cameron (Rebecca), Brandon (Rachel), Patrick (Natasha), Evan (Kylee), Adam, Kathryn, and great grandpa of 13. He will be missed by his siblings Laura (Alfred) Fischer, David (Helen) Schefter, and sister-in-law Marlene (Jim) Wilson.
Predeceased by his granddaughter Sonya Koller, step sister Mary Helen Belecki, sisters Florence Reinhart and Louise Schefter, brothers Arthur Schefter and Reuben Schefter, and parents George and Regina (nee Poechman) Schefter.
Biff was an inspiration and role model to his family. He was a devoted husband, a patient father and a very proud grandfather and great grandfather. He had the unique ability to fix or build almost anything. In his younger years he repaired farm equipment as well as his own large equipment when he ran his business. His natural talent was apparent in his carpentry skills as well. Biff also loved a good game of solo or bid euchre with his many friends.
His retirement was marred by his ALS diagnosis but he didn’t let that change his positive attitude. He handled his disease with so much strength and courage. His strong faith and fortitude gave him the strength he needed to endure life’s challenges.
Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Sacred Heart Church, Mildmay, followed by a private family interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mildmay. Fr. Leszek Szczygiel officiating.
