It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Wayne Reid of Diamond Valley on February 8, 2023 at the age of 79 years. Wayne will be dearly missed by his loving wife of fifty-four years Trudy and their two daughters: Shelly (John Bedard) of Calgary and Patty (Ian Wiebe) of East St. Paul, Manitoba. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren: Scarlett, Riley, Reid, Olivia and Callum. Wayne is also survived by his sister Lynda (Bob) Patterson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba spending his summers in Petersfield at the family cottage, where many memories were made fishing, boating, snowmobiling and socializing. It was here that he met, dated and married his love Trudy. They lived in Winnipeg for a time and then built a life with their two girls in Petersfield.
Wayne was kept busy tending to his five acre yard, working in the city and driving and supporting the girls in their activities. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family, camping, travelling the world and celebrating joyous occasions over the years. In retirement, he and Trudy spent their winters in Arizona as snow birds and relocated to Alberta.
Papa Wayne adored his grandchildren and loved playing with them and making them laugh. He was also kind and generous with his time and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Wayne enjoyed riding his electric bike as often as possible, reading, being outdoors and staying connected with friends and family.
He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.
A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, 200 Woodgate Road, Okotoks, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, in memory of Wayne memorial contributions may be considered to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca).
