Obituary of Wallace Daniel Jennings
Wallace Daniel Jennings
June 17, 1938 – January 1, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wallace Jennings announce his passing at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor on January 1, 2023 at the age of 84.
Wallace was a friendly, funny man with a great sense of humor. Even his nickname was “foolish Wall”.
He worked hard as a truck driver, spending most of his working life with Hostess Foods (the chip truck) and even at the Carmelite House could be heard asking if his chip truck was still outside!
He was predeceased by his only brother, Percy (Pierce) Jennings.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Shirley Jennings of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL; sons Dan (Jennifer) of Nova Scotia, Scott (Lisa) of Brooks, AB, Glenn (Patricia) of Fort McMurray, AB and daughter Cindy (Scott) Barnes of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Wallace leaves to mourn grandchildren Gillian, Brian, Laura, Chelsea, Sarah, Amber, and Blake and three great grandchildren Amelia, Olivia and Reed. He also leaves to mourn step-sister Joan Brent of Botwood, NL, sister-in-law Vivian Jennings of Triton, NL and his best friend George Payne of Norris Arm, NL.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Salvation Army Church in Bishop’s Falls, NL.
The family wishes to express thanks with deep appreciation for the many expressions of love,
concern, and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement.
Things We Learned From Dad
1. You did not park in front of entrance doors to a building…that was for seniors and people with disabilities…there was no need for paint on the pavement, you just didn’t do it!
2. When you parked your vehicle at home, you always backed in (part of being on the fire department…in case of emergency in the night).
Besides family, two things Dad was proud of:
That he was from Bishop’s Falls – he loved Bishop’s Falls!
The service he did with the fire department – he was so proud to be a fireman!
The MOST important thing we learned from Dad as kids was to LAUGH…even
if it’s laughing at yourself.
