Obituary
It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the unexpected passing of Valerie Irene Mooney, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Valerie passed away on May 23rd, 2023, at the age of 62. She was born November 15th, 1960, in Saint John New Brunswick, to her loving parents Myrtle and the late Charles Byers.
Valerie was a beautiful person inside and out. Whenever someone was in need, or needed a shoulder to cry on, Valerie was there ready to lend a helping hand. She was the kind of person who took care of everyone in her life. Valerie enjoyed listening to the good old country music and her gospel music as well. She loved spending time with family and friends. Valerie will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Valerie.
Besides her mother, Lorraine, Valerie is survived by her by her cherished son Ronald (Samantha) McDade, step-daughter Michelle (Kevin) Heller, and her cherished grandchildren Camron Mooney, Benjamin and Haley McDade. She also leaves behind her beloved brother Charles “Chuck” (Connie) Byers; sisters-in-law Christine (Murray) Whitaker, and Cathy Gormley; brothers-in-law Barry (Linda) Mooney, Gerry (Jackie) Landers, and Gary Watson (Lenora Lomax). Valerie will also be greatly missed by numerous cousin’s, nieces, and nephews.
Valerie was predeceased by her father, Charles Byers, her brother Ronald Curtis Byers, her husband, Michael Mooney, her sisters in-law Maureen Watson and Patricia Landers along with brother in-law Henry Hank Gormley.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, on Wednesday, May, 31st, 2023, from 6-8 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June,1st, 2023, at 10 A.M. in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Reception to follow. Burial to follow at Blissful Cemetery. Donations in Valerie’s memory can be made to Cancer Research.
