Reekie, Teresa (nee Kennedy)
It is with profound sadness and fond memories that the family of Teresa Reekie announces her passing on April 29, in her 101st year. Born in Cwmbran, Wales to Gertrude Simpson and Bernard Kennedy on February 4, 1923, and is predeceased by her brothers Mostyn, Desmond and sister Stella. Teresa served in the Second War World as a nurse and then followed by a career as a Nanny before emigrating to Canada in 1952. Teresa met the love of her life Tom and was married in 1955. They were blessed with 3 children (not all at once) Maureen (Victor Stinson 2022), Phillipa (John Belleghem) and Drew (Ann Atkins). Teresa was a volunteer at heart. After they moved to Tillsonburg in 1989, she volunteered with the Tillsonburg Hospital, CWL (member for 67 yrs) and St Mary’s resurrection choir. Her greatest pleasure was her family. Grandchildren Melissa, Ashley, Shelby and Xander were her joy and then her great granddaughter Jordyn. Teresa’s face would light up when the grandkids would call and visit. Jordyn at the age of 3 would sing songs to Great Nana and Teresa would laugh and cry at the same time with joy. Teresa was always the best to talk to, never judgmental and always open-minded. She will be remembered by all for her love, strength, compassion, and support. Family always came first.

A Complete Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 51 Venison Street, Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. Seejo John. In lieu of flowers, the family would instead appreciate donations in Teresa’s name to “St. Mary’s Parish”, to the “Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital”, or to the “Heart and Stroke Foundation” via Teresa’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com where friends and family may also share photos, favourite memories, or letters of condolences in memory of Teresa.
