Obituary For Teresa Andrea Rokas
27 June 1955 – 11 January 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Teresa Rokas, at home in Grande Prairie on 11 January 2023.
Through her kindness, generosity and sense of humour she touched the lives of many – family and friends as well as the numerous rescue dogs she loved and homed over the years. Life will not be the same without her. She was a fountain of knowledge, well-read and keen to keep learning and exploring new things and places throughout her life.
Teresa was born in Montreal on 27 June 1955 to loving parents Julius and Margaret. She was 10 years old when the family moved to Toronto where she attended schools St. Andrews and North Albion in Etobicoke. She then went on to study History and Politics at Guelph University and received her Master’s degree from McMaster University.
She began her career as a photographer and later moved to store and regional management in the retail sector. This brought her to Grande Prairie, where she lived for over 20 years.
Teresa particularly enjoyed travelling to the UK to visit her sister and family. She loved her role as an auntie, being an active part of the children’s lives and creating lasting memories for all.
Whatever life threw at Teresa, she handled without complaint, remaining positive, humble and big-hearted. She thought of others before herself and never expected much in return.
She will be forever missed by her loving sister Diane, brother-in-law Ross, niece Olivia, nephews James and Joseph as well as her many cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Teresa will be held on Thursday, January 26 at 1pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home 780 830 7742 bearcreekfuneral.com
