Tamiko, ‘Tam’ Shoji passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her 91st year at the Riverview Gardens Long-Term Care home on January 6, 2023. She was the wife of Kyo Shoji (d.2017) for over 55 years.
Tam was born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1931, the daughter of the late Hitsuji and Osuye (Tanaka) Seki.
Tam was a loving mother to Susan (Gilles) Levesque of Montreal, Karen (Patrick) Coyle of Orleans and Scott (Celina) Shoji of Chatham. She was the sister of Meiko, ‘May’ (late Shig) Ono, Takayuki, ‘Tak’ (d.Florence) (d. 2008), Jiro, ‘Jeep’(d.Kay) and Saburo, ‘Sab’ (d.Martha). Tam was a proud grandmother to Christopher (Brittany) and Ben Coyle and Olivia Levesque as well as many nieces and nephews.
Tam was a seamstress and avid quilter for many years.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Riverview Gardens Long-Term Care home, Chatham Kent Health Alliance and the Chatham Retirement Resort for their care and kindness.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.
The Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S., Chatham (519-352-5120) is in charge of arrangements.
