Susan (Sue) Ruth Seguire passed away peacefully, with her husband by her side, on March 4th, 2023 at the Peterborough Regional Heath Centre. Sue was born on November 13, 1960, in Peterborough, Ontario. Sue is survived by her husband and best friend John Seguire, her mother Marie Shearer, her son Jeffrey Seguire, daughter-in-law Allisha Seguire, grandsons Alex and Jace Seguire, by her daughter Tiffany Ramsaran, son-in-law Johann Ramsaran, granddaughters Georgia and Florida Ramsaran, and by her brothers Alan and Brian Brockwell.
The youngest child growing up, Sue formed a strong bond with her mother that would grow into a lifelong friendship. From her mother, Sue learned to value hard work, pragmatism, and selfless dedication to family. Marrying John on October 4th, 1980 gave her the opportunity to pass on those values to her children in a home filled to the brim with love, warmth and fierce loyalty.
Sue worked for the City of Peterborough, Viceroy Homes and Welch LLP, but her heart was at home. Family was her main focus, and remains her legacy. Until the end, Sue celebrated, worried over and took care of her family, often to the exclusion of her own needs.
Sue loved to travel, (and disliked travelling), loved social media (and disliked socializing), and loved quiet mornings under the oak tree (and disliked the heat). Most of all, she loved her husband John. She loved and supported him with every step they took together, with no reservations.
As the years passed, Sue’s family grew from two, to four, to six, and finally to ten. She loved her entire family, and kept every one of them close. She worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, forgave them, and always kept on loving them.
It was in October of 2014 that Sue became a grandmother, “Nanny”. In this new chapter of her life, Nanny rolled up her sleeves and got to work, helping raise all four of her grandchildren from the day they were born. Jace, Alex, Georgia and Florida were a constant source of pride for her. With her eldest grandchild Georgia, Nanny shared hopes, dreams elaborate stories and crafts, with the boys, Nanny loved sharing hugs, snuggles, and trips to the zoo together. When Florida was born, Nanny got one last chance to enjoy that “baby smell” and celebrate a new set of milestones all over again.
Sue will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind. Our hearts are broken by this loss, but we are grateful that she is no longer in any pain.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers and cards, donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Peterborough Regional Heath Centre.
At her request, in her final wishes, there will be no memorial service or funeral at this time. Family will gather for a celebration of life this summer. She wished to be remembered and acknowledged as a loving mother and grandmother, unselfish friend and caring partner.
