Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Stephen Lange of Bay Du Vin, New Brunswick at the age of 74 surrounded by his family at the Moncton Hospital on January 19th, 2023.
A man of unwavering faith and positivity, Steve exemplified bravery, courage, strength and determination throughout his 12-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from St. Thomas University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick, and later completed a Master of Education from UNB. Steve spent all thirty-one years of his teaching career at Fredericton High School and loved volunteering for school activities like Safe Grad and Robots East.
Steve loved travelling to warm climates, listening to music, and virtually every sport. He loved to work with his hands and built the family cottage as well as a much loved and legendary pirate raft. An enthusiastic fan of stock car racing, he built two of his own cars and raced them for several years. But Steve’s greatest passion and deepest love was for his family, children and grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as Bamp.
He is survived by his wife Jane of 51 years, two daughters, Kelly Lange-Knox (Dan) of Yellowknife, NT, Jennifer Lyons (David) of Lockeport, NS and son Erik Lange (Amanda) of Fredericton, NB; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, as well as several aunts, nieces and nephews; two brothers David Lange of Newcastle, NB and Sterling Lange (Valerie) of Charlottetown, PEI.
Steve was predeceased by his parents Lorraine (nee Kelly)and Kenneth Lange, sister Nancy Lange (Peter) and granddaughter Olive Anne Lyons.
We want to thank the outstanding medical team at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, the Moncton Hospital Oncology Unit, and Extra Mural Nurses as well as Dr. Wierzchoslawski, the late Dr. Sheldon Rubin, Dr. Sharif, Dr. Samad and Dr. Webster of Saint John. We will be forever grateful for your compassionate care.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 26th with visitation at 1pm followed by the funeral service at 2pm at Saint John the Evangelist Church in Bay Du Vin, New Brunswick. Masks are required and will be provided. The family requests that social distancing be maintained.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to multiple myeloma research (www.myelomacanada.ca), The Hope Café in Newcastle, or your local animal shelter.
Well done good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:23
