Obituary
Shirley Ward, 87, of McNair Manor, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alma (Rogers) Bulmer.
In the mid 1950s Shirley moved to Toronto with her best friends Hilda and Joan. She found work at the stock market and later Regal Stationary. When she moved back to Moncton she worked for John M. MacLean Management Ltd. and McNair Manor.
Some of her hobbies included scrapbooking and she made many scrapbooks for her family members. She loved to travel and play crib. She and Lawrence attended the Moncton Wesleyan Church where they enjoyed the fellowship, friends and the seniors group. Her well marked Bible is an indicator of her love for the Word and her faith in Jesus Christ. She was a very kind and caring person and that was evident in the way she cared for her mother and reached out to her siblings as their care needs increased. Residents at McNair Manor were also the recipients of her excellent caregiving.
Shirley will be sadly missed by her children, Craig Barton (Trudy), Jeffrey Barton (Linda) and Kristene Slezak; her step children, Kathy Whitley (Robert) and Keith Ward; grandchildren, Emily (Jay), Breanna, Alexander, Keira, David, Austin, and Christopher; great grandchildren, Clark and Thomas; brother, Thomas (late Jean); as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; her first husband and father of her children, Charles Barton; sisters, Muriel, Evelyn and Marjorie; and brothers, Howard and Donald.
The family would like to say thank you to management and staff of McNair Manor for the excellent care they provided to both Lawrence and Shirley while they lived there.
