Obituary of Sharon Ann Thievin
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden loss of Sharon Ann (Marko) Thievin at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Campus, on Saturday January 21, 2023.
Sharon was the beloved wife of the late Albert Louis Thievin (December 27, 2022) and this past summer they lovingly celebrated 56 years of marriage. Born in Buffalo, New York on April 3, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Walter Marko & Francis Johnston. Predeceased by an infant son Christopher in 1967.
Sharon was such a loving, caring and devoted mother to Christine & (Tony) deNijs, and Sean Thievin. She was a very dedicated & compasionate Babcia to Sophia & (Logan) Mangano, Abigail & (Kevin) Smith and Esther deNijs, and Michael & Devon Thievin, and great-grandmother to Felix. Dear Sister-In-Law of Natalie & Gary Benner of Port Colborne, and loving Aunt to Kevin & Patrizia, Mike & Kim, Leslie & Frank and Jennifer & Mike. Sharon will be missed by her many caring friends and family.
She was a compassionate woman who’s heart was worn on her sleeve. She loved being involved in many organizations and helping out whenever it was needed. She loved to read which allowed for her to enjoy working at the Chatham-Kent Library for over 15 years. From there she worked for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and thoroughly enjoyed using her amazing talent of typing and organizational skills as a secretary and worked there until her retirement. In her free time she was able to put her talent of knitting to use by making and donating her beautiful baby blankets to the local hospitals for newborn babies.
This lovely woman truly enjoyed to cook, and it showed. Being proud of her Polish background, she could cook up some delicious dishes for anyone to enjoy but her Golumpki (cabbage rolls) will be missed. Sharon being true to herself and her love of volunteering, received enjoyment being involved with the Chatham Figure Skating Club, in particular being “Den Mother” for the Maple City Ice Crystals team. Being a disciple of Christ, she was heavily involved with the Catholic Women’s League and had co-chaired the Presidency for the CWL St. Joseph’s (City) in Chatham.
May you rest in Peace now Mom and know you will forever be missed by so many, especially Krysia!
