SEGUIN, Paul Victor
October 20, 1961 — February 20, 2023
Paul Victor Seguin, 61, of Kelowna, BC, passed away on February 20, 2023, from a terminal brain tumour.
Paul was born on October 20, 1961, to Victor and Juliette Seguin in Calgary, AB. Although he trained as a professional chef at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, he found his true calling as the owner of the Catholic bookstore Lumen Christi Publications in Calgary. Ever up for a conversation, Paul ran his business with a friendly and generous heart. After Paul sold his store in 2015, he moved to Kelowna to take care of his mother Juliette.
In 2019, Paul met Carmen Fraire, and they began a cherished relationship filled with love and laughter. After they married in 2020, he opened his heart and home to Carmen’s three children, Fernando, Francisco, and Andres, fulfilling his life-long dream of having a family of his own. In 2022, Paul welcomed Carolina as his own special daughter when she and Fernando married.
Though Paul never truly pursued a career as a professional chef, he never lost his love of cooking. He gained great pleasure in devising new recipes and planning meals for family and friends. Paul had even been working on a plan to start a catering business or restaurant called the “Pigasus Palace”. Aside from cooking, Paul loved fishing, building and rebuilding projects, and indulging in Fantasy and Science Fiction books and movies. He also enjoyed a wide variety of computer games and board games – of which owned an impressive collection. As well, he loved to spend time camping at Malakwa, BC with Carmen and their family.
Paul had a great love of family and a deep devotion to God and the Catholic faith. He was always willing to help wherever he could, no matter what time of day. Nothing made him happier than lending a hand and spending time with those he loved.
Paul was predeceased by his father, Victor Seguin. He is survived by his mother Juliette; his wife Carmen Fraire; their children Fernando (wife Carolina), Francisco, and Andres; as well as his sisters Suzanne O’Brien (husband Terry O’Brien), Marie Showalter, and Kristen Moger (husband Loni Moger); his brothers Ernest Seguin (wife Fiona Seguin), George Seguin (wife Louise Seguin), and Philip Seguin (wife Jana Seguin); and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
A Vigil will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 6:00 PM, at Immaculate Conception Church (839 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna, BC) .
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Cerlouie Jimenez presiding. Burial will take place afterwards at Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery, at 12:30 PM, reception to follow at Immaculate Conception hall.
