LEGEMAATE, Salome (Pfändler) – After a long battle with cancer faced with courage and strength, Salome passed into the arms of Jesus her Savior peacefully on March 29th, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born June 22nd, 1966 in Wattwil Switzerland to Elias and Edelruth Pfändler. Beloved wife of Martin for 34 years. She was a cherished mother to her 4 children, Sarah (Colin), Rebecca, Allan and Miriam. Daughter in law to John and (Renie, deceased). Sister to Elias (Sharon), Matthias (Therese), Coni and Ursula (Peter). Aunt to Ilona, David, Sabrina (Daniel), Tamara (Danni), Noemi (Dan), Ester (Joel), Timea (Thomas), Stefan (Evylin), and Brigitte. Sister in law to Yvonne (Jeff) and also aunt to their children Ryan, Andy (Victoria) and Danny (Emma, fiancé)
She was an incredible mother who always had a listening ear, an empathetic presence, kindness, patience and encouraging words – dedicated to instilling Godly perspectives to help her family navigate each and every challenge in life.
Born and raised in Switzerland, she left her homeland in 1990 with Martin to start a new life in Canada after their marriage in 1988. The beauty of her Swiss heritage shared and integrated into the family through seasonal traditions, food and travel.
Known for her warmth, hospitality and kindness, she had a way of making those around her immediately feel like family. There was beauty in everything she touched whether through music, floral design, sewing, gardening, cooking and baking. Her passion for music shone through her involvement in orchestra, fiddle circles and as a violin teacher whereby she was loved and cherished by each and every student.
Later on to help support a growing family her baking and managing skills took her to Reesor Farm Kitchen, a bakery in Stouffville.
We take comfort in the knowledge that she is now with our heavenly father where there is no more chemo, no more radiation, no more doctors appointments and no more pain. We will miss her dearly but “we do no grieve as the rest of mankind who have no hope” 1 Thessalonians 4:13 NIV.
Please join us for visitation held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home on April 5th 5pm-9pm and a funeral service held at Springvale Baptist Church on April 6th at 11:00am.
