Ruth Irene Johnsey, 75, of Forestburg, Alberta died February 22nd 2023.
Ruth Johnsey, of Daniel and Irene Heuchert, loving wife of Thomas Johnsey, passed away on February 22nd, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton after nearly 3 weeks battling infection and other complications.
She is survived by her husband Tom, sisters Pat (Leroy)Sass, Jean (Garnet) Rose, children Dodd (Maria) Ulrich, Tamina (Norm) Miller, her grandchildren Tierra Ulrich, Curtis Miller and Keegan Miller and Tom’s children and grandchildren. Ruth will be missed by family, neighbours and friends like Valerie Swainson who stood by Ruth during her difficult last months. She leaves many fond memories with her nieces, nephews, kids and grandkids. She spent most of her working life in retail working with customers. Ruth was very artistic her whole life, with the most memorable being woodcrafts with painted murals. Tom did the woodworking and the two of them would spend endless hours at the table bringing these pieces to life, and later of course off to market. Ruth loved her birds. All birds but she was a hummingbird aficionado. Outside her window was a multitude of feeders and flowers to entice the miniature marvels. On social media she posted pics of her tiny visitors, often with an explanation of species and further justification of the time of day or stage of the season that the visit occurred. Inside her home was a perpetual hummingbird and ‘doctorbird’ (Jamaica) celebration, with ornaments of many species, crafted some various materials, originating from locations near and far.
Ruth requested to have no funeral service, however Tamina plans to host an outdoor gathering in her mom’s memory this summer. Ruth’s will be cremated and her ashes will be placed by her family.
