Ruth Katherine Campbell
1943-2023
The passing of Ruth Katherine (Young) Campbell, wife of the
late Arnold Nelson Campbell of Bocabec NB occurred at the Saint John
Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on June 5, 2023 with her family by
her side. Born in Digdeguash NB on January 14, 1943, she was a
daughter of the late Horace and Freda (Harmon) Young. A loving mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Ruth is survived by one
son: Arnold Jr. (Suzanne) Campbell of Kingston ON; daughters: Karen
(Sidney) Kernighan of St. George NB and Susan (Ryan) Greenlaw of St.
George NB; six grandchildren: Cara (Adam) Hatt, Bradley (Krista)
Campbell, Debbie (Matt) Walsh, Benjamin Campbell, Michael Greenlaw
(Kristy Blanchard) and Matthew Greenlaw (Cora Green);
great-grandchildren: Abby, Gavin, Daniel, Amantha, Corbin, Jaxon,
Kolben and Krew; her brothers: Horace (Jackie) Young of Pennfield NB,
Bernard (Diane) Young of St. Stephen NB, Timmy Young of St. Stephen NB
and Wesley Young of Saint John NB; special friend: Glenn Kinney of St.
Stephen NB; and many friends, nieces, nephews and
cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband Arnold, Ruth was
predeceased by her companion: Sheldon Seeley; brothers: Ross Young and
Carl Young; and by sisters: Peggy Craswell and Hilda
Townes.
Prior to retirement, Ruth worked for 25 years with Connors
Brothers in Blacks Harbour. In her spare time, she loved music,
dancing, going for drives, especially to the Sus Flea Market, and
being surrounded by the love of her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. One of Ruth’s favourite pastimes was
going for evening drives to the Hatchery with Sheldon where they spent
many hours together. Her kindness, love and devotion to those she
loved never went unnoticed and she will be greatly missed by all who
knew her.
The family would like to thank Dr. Vance Anderson and all
those who have helped care for Ruth over the last few years. Your
kindness and compassion shown to our mother will always be remembered
with great gratitude.
Visiting for Ruth will be held on Thursday, June
29th, 2023 from the St. George Baptist Church
from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The service will take place from the church on
Friday, June 30th, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Rev.
Jason Hooper officiating followed by the interment in the Bocabec
Community Cemetery. In Ruth’s memory, donations to Charlotte
County Cancer would be appreciated by the family.
