Ruby’s Obituary
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Ruby Monica Gavin (nee Rice) announces her passing. Ruby passed away peacefully into the loving arms of God with her daughters by her side at Copper Crescent Long Term Care Facility in Baie Verte, NL, on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023 at the age of 83 years.
Ruby is predeceased by her husband, Leander Gavin; infant son and daughter; parents – Pearce & Albertha Rice; siblings – Myrtle Rice (Pearce), Rose Robinson (Doug) and Dorcas Banks (Harry). Left with many fond and loving memories and grateful hearts are her daughters – Brenda Harding (Brian) and Rose Ricketts (Robert); adored grandchildren – Matthew Ricketts (Jenna), Kaitlyn Ricketts (Kris Schroeder), and Abigail Ricketts; great-grandchildren – Jodie and Jayden Ricketts, and Saylor Rose Schroeder; brother – Rev. William Rice (Rowena), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Public Visitation will take place at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL on Thursday, January 5th, 2023, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, with funeral service from St. Swithin’s Anglican Church, Seal Cove at 11:00 am, on Friday, January 6, 2023. The family requests masks be worn for both visitation and funeral service.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted, or in keeping with Ruby’s legacy of love and kindness, donations may be made in Ruby’s memory in care of the family to be presented to St. Swithin’s Anglican Church, Seal Cove.
We encourage extended family and friends to share condolences, memories and/or photos to Ruby’s memorial wall, available on our website.
All items will be documented and displayed in our personalized guestbook and presented to the Gavin family.
