It is with great sadness, but with hearts full of love and gratefulness that we announce the passing of our cherished mother and sweet Grandma and GG. Rosemary Kevany (Sheridan) passed at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 88 surrounded by her loving family.
Rosemary was born in Toronto and moved to London where she spent most of her growing years. She was the eldest daughter of Annie and James Sheridan. Predeceased by her sister Maureen Sheridan, brother Vince Sheridan, brother-in-law Lloyd Eaton and brother-in-law Fra Morgan. Older sister to Jimmy (Pat) Sheridan, Terry (Jean) Sheridan, Bernie (Brenda) Sheridan, Judy Sheridan, Theresa Eaton, and Rita Morgan.
She married Pat Kevany on September 4, 1954. Together, Rose and Pat raised 10 children; Barbara (Dominic do Forno), Patsy (Greg Peters), Peggy, (Luc Marmelic), Kathleen (Bill Dodman), Sheila (Terry Labelle), Breeda (Steve Wookey). Sadly, she was predeceased by sons John, Brian (Helen), Brendan, and Michael. She is survived by 17 wonderful grandchildren, Kassya, Jenny, Eoin, Kate, Madilyne, Daniel, Andrew, Shannon, Eric, Cameron, Justin, Chris, Melanie, Kayla, Nicole, Bridget, and Owen. And her 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews across Canada and Ireland are great sources of pride.
Rose drove School Bus for over 25 years after her children all entered school full time, she was well-known among the children of Chatham-Kent due to her friendly and mischievous spirit.
She sang with the St Joseph’s traditional choir for over 50 years, She had a heavenly singing voice and we loved to sit around and have her sing to us at home. Mom was the chairperson of the Festival on Nations for several of the early years of the festival.
Rose was the strength and backbone of her family. Rose’s unending support and love for all her children was second to none. She was elegant and impish and always so full of life. We were so lucky to have her as our mom and grandmother and GG.
It’s impossible to put into words the extraordinary person that Rose was. She was truly beautiful, inside, and out. Rose’s life was always centred around loving and caring for her family, many friends and her church. She was incredibly kind and generous, so warm and welcoming to anyone, regularly inviting new friends home for holidays and celebrations. She was steadfast, had a wonderful sense of humour, and was full of life right up until the end.
