Obituary of Rose Marie Burton
Burton, Rose Marie – Age 98 of Petite Riviere, passed away March 5, 2023, in Ryan Hall, Bridgewater. Born in Rockdale, Cape Breton on March 13, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Sampson) Martell. Rose is survived by son, Wayne Burton, Petite Riviere; grandchildren, Heather (Rich) Chipperini, Watertown, Massachusetts; Todd (Maria) Burton, Watertown, Massachusetts; Michael (Linda) Burton, Watertown, Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, Olivia Ryan, Emily Burton, Joshua Burton, and Jayden Burton; a nephew and nieces in Halifax. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald; son, Donald George Burton; sister, Rita Sampson; brothers, Michael, George, and Alonzo Martell.
Rose enjoyed gardening, quilting, rug-hooking, and sewing. She was a member of the Fireman’s Auxiliary, Petite Riviere, and The Women’s Institute, Petite Riviere.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 14 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bridgewater, Father Keith Billard officiating. Donations in Rose’s memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bridgewater or a charity of choice.
