February 8th, 1926 – February 26th, 2023
Peacefully, with her children by her side, Rose-Marie Rovinelli passed from her physical into her eternal life, on February 26th, 2023, in her 98th year.
Born on February 8th, 1926, Rose-Marie was the youngest daughter of Henri and Couranna Quenville (née Lalonde) both predeceased. Also predeceased by her 12 siblings Lébéa Lalonde (Jean), Cécile Martin (Victor) and (Joseph Langlois), Alcide (Edna Leduc), Lionel (Florence Gosselin), Aurèle (Alda Leclair), Aldoria Levert (Wilfrid), Laurette Auger (Alfred), Rita Desloges (Wilfrid), Conrad, Jean Marie Bonaventure (at birth), Euclide (Jeannine Racine) and Romeo (wife Solange Sirard of Finlandia Village-Haapa Unit).
Predeceased by the father of her children Albert Rovinelli Sr.
Cherished mother of Danielle “Carole” Brosseau (Percy Barriault), Linda Delwo (Gerald), Marissa Rovinelli (Alain Leclair) and Albert “Nino” Rovinelli (Lise Lachapelle).
Fondly remembered by her 5 grandchildren Renée, Robert, Terri Lynn, Julie and Anthony, her 6 great-grandchildren Jacob, Addison, Emmanuelle, Michael, Avery and Nicholas, as well as numerous Rovinelli and Quenville nieces and nephews.
During WWII, “Marie” worked at the INCO Smelter. She later worked at several retail stores including Simpson Sears and Sears. Marie owned and operated the Blezard Valley Convenience Store, and the Beachway Snack Bar in Minnow Lake.
Mom was happiest when she could use her talent for baking and making parties for her friends and family. Her pies and pastries were renowned. Everything she baked was delicious.
Her knitted wool socks were coveted by all. Everyone knew our mother at Bonik Towers and finally Finlandia. In her nineties she raised 1000$ for SISA. She sold 50/50 tickets for Finlandia. She ran Bingos, shared her soup and meat pies with her neighbours. Rose-Marie was a role model to her children. We will miss her.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury, on Saturday, March 11, 2023 after 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home Chapel at 3 p.m.
Donations can be made by cheque or online to the Finlandia SISU Foundation.
