The family would like to announce the peaceful passing of Ronald Van Goethem of Tillsonburg, in his 71st year on Monday July 17, 2023, with his caring and loving family by his side. He leaves behind his loving wife Cindy of 43 years, and his loving daughter Pam Van Goethem (Keith Warner), 2 grandsons Jack & Jacob, brother-in-law & sister-in-law (Bryon & Linda) Smith, nieces Krista Wentzel (Dan) and Lindsay (Ryan) Varro. Along with 4 great nieces and nephews, Ron also leaves behind several cousins.
Ron was predeceased by his parents Albert and Alice Van Goethem, his father and mother in law (Jack & Pauline) Smith.
Ron was never known to back down from a challenge. So he joined a London wheelchair basketball team. Well, if basketball wasn’t challenging enough he took up the game of golf, and then he took up the game of curling. He enjoyed supporting local baseball games and hockey games and cheering from the bleachers. He enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law at the Waterford ponds. Needless to say, Ron’s fish always got away.
Sadly missed, but never forgotten, Love always.
Friends and relatives will be received at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Saturday July 22, 2023 from 10:00am – 12:00 pm. The Funeral Service for Ron will follow at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place in Delmer immediately after the conclusion of the service and then a luncheon at Korner Perk (101 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg) following the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly accepted and appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Society and the Canadian Cancer Society and may be done online directly with the charity or via cheque payable to the charity by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home.
