Obituary of Ronald Paxton
Paxton: Ronald James –
The saddest moment is when the person who gave you the best memories becomes a memory.
With the heaviest of hearts, his wife, Tammie and two children, Daniel and Amber, announce the passing of their husband and father, Ronald James Paxton, affectionately known as Ron, after a one-month battle with lung cancer.
Those who knew Ron well (or even casually) knew that he marched to his own beat and lived life on his terms. It was said that he had a blueprint for life that many envied. He was best known for his sense of humour, vast knowledge and selflessness. His charisma commanded a room, and everyone in it wanted his attention. He was incredibly thoughtful, ensuring to keep connections strong with friends near and far, old and new, through random Facebook messages, trips to Mexico, the Havelock Jamboree and Cornwall, on the job sites working for Henry Heyink Construction, and tours on the boat and golf cart around Mitchell’s Bay, where he lived his last years alongside his loving companion of 48 years, Tammie.
He had many more projects to finish, crops to plant, trips to go on, and people to tease and love. Ron was also looking forward to welcoming his first granddaughter in August from his daughter Amber. We will take comfort and pride in maintaining and continuing the legacy he built for his family and knowing that he’ll be watching over us from heaven.
Born in Chatham, Ron was the beloved son of the late William and Donna Paxton. He was a devoted, loving husband and high school sweetheart to Tammie (Mack), a cherished father to Daniel and Amber, and an adoring grandpa to Jace and William. He is survived by his siblings, Bev Beausejour, Carol Heuvelmans (Leo), Rick Paxton (Joy), and Lynn Paxton-Batten (Ron), and preceded in death by his brothers Brian, Bob, and Steve Paxton, as well as his sister Judy Read. Additionally, Ron leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Ron passed peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, May 23rd, at the age of 66.
A private family gathering will be held at the family farm to honour and celebrate his life. In place of flowers, please send donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
He will be remembered fondly and with love and laughter by all who knew him. The void he leaves behind in so many people’s lives is immense and will be felt daily for years to come.
Ron often said, “You only die once, but you live every day”- you better enjoy it!
