Powell, Ronald Edward – 73, Oxford, passed away April 28th, 2023 in Halifax Infirmary with his family by his side. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late John W. and Helen (Walsh) Powell. Ronnie worked for the Town of Oxford as labourer and machine operator for most of his working life until his retirement, then returning every summer until he fell ill. In his early years, he enjoyed motorcycling, tug of war and camping with his family. Ronnie also liked to fish with his brother, Marven, and his grandchildren, and hunt with his grandson, Josh. Ron is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Brenda Miller; daughters, Nicole (Dale), Oxford; Lyndsay (Arnold “Bub”), Conns Mills; best friend, Roy; grandchildren, Michael, Dylan, Joshua (Maddie), Trevor, Matthew, Magen (Josh), Emily and Grace; step-grandchildren, Brad, Tim, Jennifer, great-grandchildren, Alexis, Emily, Benson, Bria, Reyvan and Winnie; brothers, Marven (Debbie), Springhill; Paul, Dartmouth; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, John L. and Brendan; grandson, Elmer; brother, John “Chico”. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium.
