Robert Leslie Acker of Shelburne passed away suddenly with his best friend by his side on January 21,2023 at the age of 69. Born in Shelburne, September 9,1953 he was a son to the late Jack and Francis (Oickle) Acker. Robert worked at Hartley Cox & Sons for 12 years and The Town of Shelburne Public Works until his retirement. He had fond memories of playing sports especially his number one sport of baseball. He played on the Yarmouth Dairy Queen and Clyde River Ball Teams for a number of years. Robert had a kind and very outgoing personality. He was always willing to lend a hand and enjoyed his time volunteering at the Sandy Point Light House. He loved to talk and tell stories, going for drives, adventures and eating out at restaurants. He enjoyed wood working, making lighthouses and bird feeders. He is survived by his special and dear friend, Lottie Faye; brothers, David (Mary) Oickle, Liverpool; Johnny Acker, Jordan Falls; sisters, Donna Acker, Shelburne; Debbie Decker, Jordan Falls; as well as many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Albert. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 27,2023 at 11 a.m. from the Christ Anglican Church, Shelburne, interment in the Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Albert Arthur Memorial Field.
