DAVIDSON, Robert “Bob” Douglas, 77, of Stratford, passed away in St.Mary’s on Monday January 30, 2023.
He was born in Stratford on September 9, 1945 and spent his entire life in the city he loved. He is the son of the late William John and Lorene Elizabeth (Querengesser) Davidson.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years and the love of his life, Rhea Jean (Turner) whom he married in Stratford on October 7, 1972. Two daughters, Erin Davidson (Karl Forbes) and Christine Davidson (Chris Coolahan). Some of his greatest joys came from his 2 grandchildren, Nikko Forbes and Norah Coolahan; many memories were created while enjoying special times together. Also survived by brothers; Jack Davidson (Jean), Harold Davidson; sisters, Ella McCann (William), Shirley Friend and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Ross Davidson (Irene), and sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera Spendiff (Charles), Dorothy Sproule (Harry).
Bob worked as a Certified General Accountant for Famme & Co. for the majority of his career. He was a member of the Stratford Legion. He had incredible patience, always finding time to help others and serve his community. He served as President of the Minor Girls Softball Association, as a Stratford Police Service Board member, a Stratford Hospital Board member and on various other committees. He did everything with integrity and honesty.
Bob was a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved to travel with his wife, calling trips to the Mediterranean, Baltic, Panama Canal, Alaska, and Route 66 favourite times. He also loved to play cards; we are sure he is playing poker now in heaven with friends and family.
The family extends a heartful thank you to the incredible doctors and nurses at the St.Mary’s Memorial Hospital.
Bob’s legacy will carry forward reminding us that he chose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service.
In lieu of a traditional ceremony, Bob wanted us to celebrate his life with a party. We will be honouring this wish at the Stratford Legion, 804 Ontario Street, Unit B1, Stratford on Saturday February 4, 2023 from 2-5pm. Join us to celebrate Bob’s life and share stories.
